Effective date
The date a band change takes effect — usually the date you moved in, not the date the VOA agrees.
When the VOA reduces your band, the change is backdated to when the error started applying to you — normally the day you became liable for the property. Any overpaid council tax between that date and the change is refunded by your billing authority. Effective dates for new-build homes are the completion date.
